There are many different reasons that people around the globe are looking to Europe. One of the reasons that people are looking at Europe is to see what will happen with Greece in the next couple of months after several years of trying to recover economically. What happens in Greece could possibly have a negative impact on the rest of Europe, especially the countries that are in the European Union (EU). The refugee crisis and upcoming elections are just two of the many factors that could affect the decisions made by the Greek leaders.
The refugee crisis has already had a small impact on Greece. There are many refugees that are living on a cruise ship to try and lessen the load of the people living on the streets, but there are still thousands that are camping out waiting to be processed. With the added stress of refugees on the Greek economy, it is a waiting game to see what the Greek government will do with their thousands of refugees. If Greece cannot handle all the refugees there is the possibilities that they will try to send the refugees to other countries or their economy may start to collapse even further. Either of these outcomes could provide further strain on the rest of Europe because Greece has already received several bailouts and the other countries are also dealing with several thousand refugees.
The upcoming elections will also have a big impact on Greece and the rest of Europe. Depending on who is elected into office could affect the decision of Greece leaving the EU. If Greece does leave the EU there could possibly be a ripple effect on other countries deciding to do the same. The collapse of the EU could lead to problems for the rest of the world because some of the economies are so intertwined. Also, if Greece leaves the EU, the economy would have to go through some drastic changes such as changing their currency and what country could possibly help them if Greece needs another bailout.
Only time can tell what will happen with the Greece government and economy, but for now it has taken a backseat to other pressing matters. No matter what other problems may arise across the globe seeing what Greece will decide to do could have an impact on the rest of Europe. Whatever that impact may be could be a deciding factor in many decisions to come.
