Throughout the United States, and even the world, there are many different views on gun control. In the U.S. these ideas differ throughout time, sometimes based on what is happening in the country at the time. Even though there are many people who want to change gun control laws there is barely eve a new law passed to make the process of getting a gun any harder. Although there are many times that people want to make gun control laws stricter there are many factors that play a part in the final decision. One of these decisions is the possible effects stricter gun laws could have on the economy of different states and the U.S. as a whole.
Since the Great Recession of 2008, the gun industry has created thousands of jobs and brought in millions of dollars in revenue. Jobs from the gun industry are created through the manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of guns. By creating these jobs, the gun industry is also helping bring revenue to families that may have been struggling in the past. Each year new jobs are created due to higher demand of firearms.
Not only does the gun industry help directly by creating jobs and revenue, but it also provides the livelihood to many people. There are some people who rely on being able to hunt for food that they will butcher and use throughout the year. By making gun laws stricter, there is always the worry of what that could do to families that use the meat that comes from animals killed with guns.
Jobs created, revenue brought in, and the livelihood of some folks are just a few of the ways that guns help the U.S. economy. If there are stricter gun laws put in place there is the risk of losing thousands of jobs due to the lower demand for firearms, but there is also a small possibility for growth in jobs to help prevent the wrongful sale of firearms due to stricter laws. No matter if there are stricter gun control laws the gun industry creates jobs and revenue that would have to be made up for if they were lost.
